2023 Primary Election


Tuesday, June 6 Polls open 6am - 8pm

Nominating petitions for Primary candidates - filing deadline is Monday March 27th at 4pm

State Senate/Assembly candidates file petitions with the State of NJ
County candidates file petitions with the County Clerk (contact election office 732-929-2153)
Municipal candidates file petitions with the Municipal Clerk(PDF)

Thursday April 6th at 3:00pm is the Ballot Drawing for the Primary Election

Wednesday April 12 is the deadline to file a party declaration form for the Primary.

Tuesday May 30 is the last day for the County Clerk to receive by mail a Vote by Mail Application for the Primary Election

Monday June 5 at 3pm is the deadline to obtain In-person a Vote by Mail Ballot for the Primary Election

Voter Information

Vote by Mail (US)

In New Jersey, any voter can vote by mail. You do not need a reason to vote by mail. Don't feel like going to the polls? Simply vote by mail. Now there is no excuse not to vote!

You may apply for a Mail-in ballot if you are a qualified and registered voter by written application to this office.

Requirements
• Sign your name as it appears in the registry book
• Submit your request up to 7 days before any and all elections (Primary, General, School, etc.)
• Any Mail-in voter who fails to apply by the deadline may apply in person to the office on any day up to 3:00 P.M. of the day before the Election

Register to Vote!

To register in New Jersey you must be:
• A United States citizen
• At least 17 years old, and understand that you may not vote until reaching the age of 18
• An Ocean County resident for 30 days before the election

Military, Civilian Overseas & Federal Voting

If you are in the military service (or a dependent, patient in a veterans hospital or civilian attached to or serving with the military) a civilian overseas or a Federal Voter Mail-in voting privileges are available. For more information or an application contact the Election Office or click the link for the application below.
